Earthly Delights

byCal Y. Pygia©

Lava rooted in fire
Burns the bowels
Of Mother Earth
Who gives birth
To monsters
Out of synch with time
And space,
Their eyes glowing
Like molten pools,
Their teeth jagged shards
Of basalt or feldspar.

Time hungers,
Drooling, a fool
Discontented too easily
With burnt offerings
Of experience.

The knotted tie
Is an eel
That squirms
As if it were larval
Waiting to unwind;
The rose she wears
Upon her breast
Bleeds beauty
Over innocence
And she ripens
Before my eyes,
Growing, as if another root,
A penis from the tangle
Of her pubic curls,
As much a boy
As before she was a girl.

The toad with the human face
Swells with lust,
Living well
Upon the backs of wanton
Characters, and I think I know
Under which rocks we dwell
In this living hell
We call "The Garden of Earthly Delights."
