Easter 2010

The K-Mart crew scavenges
For Easter goodies
Hallways are packed
And tempers are short

Prices have been slashed
In honor of the resurrection

Little girls in pink dresses
With bunny ears
Are dragged crying
Through the store

Lads in Sunday suits
Are chocolate covered
From rabbits they've
Been bribed with
To keep quiet
While mommy shops

It's a bumper car
Race with the carts
To the check-out stands
Bets are placed on
Which line is faster

The family must
Hurry, hurry, hurry
To get out in time for Church

Good Stuff!

A poem is supposed to be a picture that sounds musical and you have hit it with this one. I am with Chipbutty too; wicked social commentary.

nice social comment

i was with you all the way till your last strophe - if you swapped 'faster' for 'fastest', imo, it would work even better and not require the last 3 lines :)

maybe it's because i have trouble seeing the mum's allowing the kids to get covered in chocolate before church, though afterwards, and in the race to get home to more goodies or tv films...?
