How like my fourth
formers the lawn is.
Initial promise
soon gives way to

a shrugged shoulder, patches of
fluffy moss appearing
no matter how hard
we keep on applying

fertilizers
rakes and
all the recommended implements -

I rather suspect
when my back is turned
the field indulges
in putting up its blades
in a rude gesture:

at well over fifty
I sure
ought to know better.
