Touch me softly with your flickering light
making me shine from deep within
drawing me closer to your warmth
ever mindful of your fiery center

Lick me with your quicksilver tongue
when I dance away from your heat
pulling me into your red-hot heat
and making it a part of mine

Burn away all the myriad layers
the mazes and fast dead ends
of a life devoid of your comfort
sunk in darkest non-illumination

Consume me as your needed fuel
the driftwood that lies near you
knowing as your flames reach for me
that some fuels make a fire burn out of control.
