Embrace me, oh, close darkness; well-remembered friend.
Cloak me in your depths
Your silent fingers twist and twine their way into my consciousness
Embedding themselves within the secret recesses of my core.

Fibrous lengths bind me intricately
Elaborate patterns
Attempting to make themselves permanent fixtures
Cut them not—they’re pretty, aren’t they?

I stroke them
Enjoying their gossamer beauty
Wallowing in their deceitful comfort
Leave me! Leave me to the ponderings of their placement.

Ah! Allow me the luxury of fondling their presence
Turning them over
Admiring them from every angle carefully
‘Til I am forced to release them—once again.
