We stretched out before the climb.
My hamstrings were very tight
but you were lithe and easy.
I felt naïve and awkward
while you were hard and ready,
and the flint of your blue eyes
cut the fat from my belly.
Our breezy laughter conjured
vultures above the valley
and doves winging in the trees.
You showed me about the ropes
and we scaled the big pink rock,
grinding into the granite
like servicing a lover -
our arms reaching out to holds,
legs spreading to crevices,
breasts pressing against cold stone,
and pubic bones bumping it.
Worming and twisting higher
with such assurance it seemed
as if you knew the rock and,
in some odd way, it knew you.
I dug fingers in a crack
and pushed hard to reach your hand.
You pulled me up to the ledge
and we stood on top and kissed.
Skeletons danced in the sun
and the wind blew through our hair.

nice mix of rock climbing and sex -- I've always thought the two were connected, you mix them together nicely,

Not much in the mood for either comments or analysis, or even reading. A5, because I like these lines:

and the flint of your blue eyes

cut the fat from my belly.
