Drifting through the air like a speck of unkempt dust,
I broaden my horizons.
The view of the world from here is so different,
And I wonder about all the things I've been missing my whole life.
Swirling in the breeze of the stormy evening,
I am taken into the arms of the cloudy night that surrounds me.
The darkness is overwhelming and the silence is deafening,
But the promised secret that it holds will not be broken by me, I will keep floating.
Swaying with the tops of the sun-jaded trees,
Paradise holds on tight with both hands, not the image it's supposed to be.
The effortlessness is lost, everything is holding on, and soon there'll be no peace left.
Tossing about the mist that is the brink of endless oceans,
I suffocate in the hollowness of what should be and the gravity of what should not.
Willing myself to fall, I search for the safe haven of the life that has abandoned me,
Never wishing to see the things unseen, hoping only to stake claim in the blandness,
To carry on with days free of perplexity and hardship.
My wishes go unanswered and the floating goes on still,
I close my eyes and block it out, hiding from reality and truth,
Shaking with the fear of what's to come and what won't last.
