Let lightning crack and thunder roll above
the stricken city streets; and let it pour
a sheet of water on the crowds and more
than that: let nature show how rough
its temper is; and let it gruffly shove
aside the trite demands of people, sure
that they have primacy in setting store
in clement weather, everyone would love;
And let us watch the hail and see the rain
rush down upon the balcony and splash
the garden chairs, as you lie on your back,
while we make love to pass the time; again
and then once more, let's hear the storm clouds crash
above our heads, as we enjoy the crack.
