Resolute in your loving,

you reached into the mist of

my confusion, and led me

on the path you had chosen.

Shadows started to lighten;

and the demons stepped aside,

enthralled by your rare music

and by your agile beauty.

Intrepid and filled with pride,

your stride was long and true. I

tried to keep up; but, a nymph's

heart is a changeable thing.

I tripped on the serpent's tail,

and lost your hand as I fell.

You looked on my treachery

and then, sent me back to hell.

some way to go

before you match Carol Anne Duffy on the subject of Eurydice - but keep trying. M
