I cried outside your door tonight

Although you did not know

Your words hang heavy in my mind

As I hear the rooster crow

I saw this coming a long, long time ago

The heartbreak imminent, not ready for the blow

Walking a fine razor's edge

I knew the line was thin

I chanced to give to you my pledge

I break easily from within

Stood too close to a flaming inferno that you like to call your life

Burned by something other than you, the flames of my device

I thought I could get over you

Oh, how hard I tried

I held my breath 'til I turned blue

But in the end just cried
