It grew.
It had always grown,
Its spinal column now the
Internet, whole communities now
Its neurons, people and dolphins now
Its molecules, their conscious cells
Its atoms, the entire planet now
Its brain.
It was Gaia now,
Its Mind wrapped around
Its world like a Midgard boa constrictor,
Its ears deaf to the faint warnings from
Its galactic peers.
It would breed now,
Its sperm a sea of retroviruses,
Its body to be flesh at last,
Its eyes and arms to be human and locust armies,
Its brain to be pulsating, blood-bathed cybermeat,
Its wings to be those of falcons and steel birds, as
It flies home to the stars.
