Put your walking shoes away,
We will not walk anymore,
Down along our favorite way,
Through the hills, nor touch the shore,
Bu the woods or by the stream,
Not again, except in dreams.

Put your summer's tent away,
It will not come anymore,
Was this really your intent?
We would not sleep as before,
By the woods or by the stream,
Not again, except in dreams.

Put away your gloves and skies,
Even if the snow is deepening.
Never again will be fly,
Down the hills nor touch the sky,
By the warming winter's fire,
Never so can we aspire.

Now your voice seems strangely cold,
And your blue eyes glint as ice,
And your words are few and bold,
Such a lonely winter's night.
I must face the dark alone,
Without comfort, without cover,
Without partner, without lover.
