I am weary and five days
out of my township. The dead recrudesce,
fall into zombie line

behind canary dress. Girl wears one
through streets and no matter if she collapses;
followers have long been mortis meat.

Little bird remains yet.
Going deeper still
into the avenues
and hollows. Their sallow gauntness
stiffens with each step. The infected believe

they live
as long as there is song.

Hope?

How in the hell can you make me feel a sense of hope from a zombie poem! I must be hearing the song.
