in a "developed" world
where ball-brawling cavemen
become imperial business moguls,
where nobody starves but
some drown in greed,
where presentable poets push and pull
for shiny apple book awards
like Swift's gold-hungry Yahoos,
where every other tome of obvious nonsense
sells 50 million copies
and is translated into 50 languages,
where "innovation" is a zombie buzz-word,
where the least spirited pursuit
of profoundly "profitless" fields
wins society's reverence
and the presidential handshake-

haven't you heard?
black is the new white,
wrong is the new right
and failure-
it's the new "success"
