There are people in this world who are a treasure,
And so few can even guess their measure.
They are so easily hurt, a target of slight.
Yet in spite of it all, such a guiding light.

They are fallen angels, those who try so hard
To live up to their thoughts and internal regard
That they will do the hard things …
Enduring the pain that it brings.

Castigated and insulted, reviled and cast down.
They none-the-less keep on, renouncing renown.
They have an internal sense of right,
A fire that burns bright,
You can trust them, my friend
They will always transcend
Any notion you hold
They are worth more than gold.

They are easy to hurt because they take the hard stand
Way out on the limb, the most desolate strand.
They do it for love, they do it for right.
They are souls who are damned, souls burning so bright.
