So now here we stand,
At this place we have come to.
Part of me wishes it not,
But in truth the signposts
In the last few miles
Could not be mistaken.
I shouldn't, but I do,
Take one last bittersweet
Backwards glance along the miles and miles
That stretch now behind us.
Could it have been different?
The determinist would say,
"No, it is as it must be."
The nurturer would whisper
To me alone
"It was always about emotions,
and feelings."
Those you say I never showed.
I did, you know,
You just never saw them
For what they were.
The hedonist would say,
"You never took the time
to have fun."
But fun was always on
Your terms, and never mine.
So now here we stand.
Shoulder to shoulder as two.
I know not your path, and
As to mine I am no seer.
As I look forward the part
I can see is bereft of signposts.
Lets us move now,
From this place
Of our divergence.
Faretheewell my lady.
The words from now
Will be sparse
And curt.
But for all that,
Faretheewell my lady.
If pain I feel
Its is this;
That I see all
The miles we
Have traversed.
But you see
Only the last one.
Faretheewell my lady
And may the merciful God
Grant you peace at last.
Great first submission,
i'm looking forward to more!
Thanks.
