slender moon lies cold
and trembling bare in cupped atone
she was offered,
once,
an escort down from high
her icy throne

sun did lay his heart and soul both
naked burning at her feet
to guide the way and yet
her trust
she would not grant
nor heed

of tears and dreams a
shining stair in crystal he did weave
with magic song and naked breath
for her,
just,
he offered leave

of thought borne hesitating moon
she could not take in hand
the moment
promised flight
of heart
the dream at suns command

of days first golden ray a finger
pointing out from night between
forever,
there, suns crystal steps
they are
no longer seen

of slender moon she fades
with hidden face from memory and sight
and yet in heart forgotten
not
sun takes his
farewell of the night
