You really make it tough to leave your side
When you lie there, soft-smiling, half-asleep
So pleasantly inviting to the touch,
So warm and loving, it all seems so much
To go away from; no, I want to keep
Right here beside you. I just want to hide
From daily duties, cuddle up again,
And spend a few more hours getting sane.
But that just cannot be. I can't stay there
In comfort like a hibernating bear.
I'll take your smile along when out I go
To keep me warm when frigid breezes blow.
I grumble and I long for you all day,
And dwell upon the time I'm back to stay.
