she yawns as she stares
out the window
mumbling something about
grass and flowers
a cup of coffee now
long cold sits next to
her glasses long since
out of prescription
in a bathrobe torn and
faded, slippers with
rubber soles
she shuffles to the
kitchen sink fills it
with steaming water
a dab of soap
she starts her day,
like thousands before
gray hair in curlers
in her torn bathrobe
