Click hereTo Karen B. - with love.
I’d love to see you cross the lazy dawn
And smile a welcome on the morning beach -
There are slow breakers, and a sound, long-drawn,
Of insects humming. I will come and reach
For your warm hands and hold them tight in mine,
And you will nod, and stretch your back, and shine.
Your brown eyes, warm and sleepy, and your cheeks
And mouth will oust all else – My eager stare
Is almost bashful, and my greeting squeaks
Dry-mouthed for joy because you’re standing there…
And when you break into a smile and speak
My heart rejoices, and my knees go weak.
Was also a super duper number by Al Bano & Ramona Powers in Italian / Spanish !!
...adds immeasurably to the final moments in this poem. This Karen B. is either a very fortunate woman, or a great Muse! A lovely, romantic poem!
