Figuring It Out

Somewhere along the course of time
In the world God engineered
The image of the female figure
Came to be secretly revered

Rather than listen with his eyes
Man listened with his ears
To the rhetoric of biblical verses
Mistranslated throughout the years

A harmless admiration of natural art
Became the psychological art of distrust
Man convincing himself that looking
Opened him to the perils of lust

He guarded himself against what he saw
Since eyes were prone to deception
And fascination with surface beauty
Was to ignore the person within

Then along came the flourishing sciences
Placing great emphasis on the tangible
The proverbial glass half emptied
Was only worth studying when half full

Busily removing God from equations
And replacing Him with Evolution
During the objectifaction of everything
The subjective was considered delusion

Then the table turning began
With the onset of this contradiction
For now anything beyond the observable
Was only figment of imagination

And if this wasn't enough to contend with
Along came the Feminist uprising
Objecting to ladies being objectified
For the sake of ogling and glamourizing

Which brings us to Man's lowest point
A time of great sadness and distress
Gone were the legs he was privy to
Pantsuits superceded skirt and dress

It should come as no mystery then
In the world God engineered
How the image of the female figure

Fortunately, things are better now
As man slowly comes to his senses
Learning to appreciate form again
