Gazing longingly into your eyes
I see myself peering back
At the image of a girl
Who didn’t love until…
Searching through my past
Nothing but emptiness is all I find
And there again is the girl
Who didn’t know love until…
I’ve been through so much in my life
And I knew nothing else but sorrow
Leaving me as nothing but the girl
Who didn’t know love until…
With one sweet smile you changed my life
And filled it with so much
That soon I began to lose the girl

Hearing your voice or seeing your face
Warms my heart to no end
And I can’t imagine being the girl

From all the Hell I’ve known
So please don’t remember me as the girl

Who gave you her heart to hold.
