Once I loved you

A long time ago

With every breath
And sigh
I was yours

My heart knew your secrets
My tongue
Your taste

I knew your heart
That it was mine
As mine was yours

When we held hands
I could not tell
Your fingers from mine

And when we kissed
Our tongues entwined
Like vines that twist
As one

I was so young
In awe of you
My hero, my prince & saviour

Whose thoughts I thought
And dreams I dreamed
'Forever' my heart whispered
'Forever'

Until one day
I looked at you
And saw a man

Just a man

And then my love

Was gone.
