I needed you there
But inside I knew
That you were out of reach

I cried invisibly
Prayed that you would reach for me
While I felt the pain incredibly

A brave front was mine
Painted on thick
But I dropped the brush as you vanished from sight

No art could hide
My thickening side
As I no longer cried

I was tired of this thing
Wanting what was so very close
That mere whispers could get me there

But as close as I became
It just was not the same
Being out of reach drove me insane

Madness began to cloud me
My features did start to twist and blur
Until burning embers became my eyes

I gladly gave myself to the fire
Feeding the madness of my desire
To wage war upon the deadly mire
That caught me in its web

I tried to have no expectations
Of what would happen
Day after endless day

But hope would arise anew
Every time I looked at you
Burning in me did renew
Its lustful heat in my heart

All this I saw
As I looked out the window
All this I knew
As I glimpsed the world outside
All this I believed
As my mind took flight
