For want of words

I wanted to write you a poem
To show you how I feel
But I never wrote a love song
Before today
And the words wouldn't come. 

I wanted to spread my thoughts across the paper
So you could know
You're always on my mind
But I never wrote a love song

And so I didn't know how to tell you in words.

I wanted to spread my emotions
In between the lines of my thoughts
And lay them bare for you 
So you'd know what I feel for you
But I never wrote a love song
Before today
And I was scared you wouldn't feel the same. 

I wanted to write you a poem
But the words went untyped
The thoughts unwritten
The feelings unsaid
Because I never wrote a love song
I just gave you my heart
And you said that was enough
