Golden Nereid
who swims the ocean of my soul
always elusive
always just out of reach
of my arms
that long to hold you;
My hands that seek to touch
your amber skin;
My lips that wish
to speak to yours in the only way they know
--a gentle kiss.
You see the world through
two deep oceans
Bluer than Poseidon's throne.
Gods, that you once…
…just once…
gaze on me with those shimmering orbs
and I could go to the Elysian Fields
to happily forget all else.
Singer of the sea
your voice calls to me in my sleep
Tempts me
Haunts me
with that which I cannot have.
If I were to chase
you would run
and I could never look
on your beauty.
So, I sit
Patiently
in the guise of friend
so that I may always be near you.
My heart races
But my sweet water-goddess
does not hear.
My love
is for my mind alone.
And there is reside
in my thoughts
my thirst unquenched…
Yet sated on the pure sight of you.
