you cared for me.
In my sorrow
you wept.
Held my hand
at crossroads.
Tied my shoelaces
lest I fell.
And yet I can't
forgive you
for things you
didn't do.
And yet I fail
to love you
as now I see
your mistakes.
What cruel child
you have left behind
to remember you in hate.
When all you tried
to do was help
even though you failed.

A parent's real nightmare — remembering their own parents' failings while committing new ones of their own.
Short and simple,
easy to understand with no complex thoughts or images.
I might suggest that you consider tweaking the lines:
"What cruel child
you have left behind"
By doing something like either add an "a" in the first line,
or reversing the two words in the second. - "Un-stilt" it, or double "stilt" for effect.
this is sure to make every parent stop and think.
tender and heartbreaking.
A very emotional piece
thank you
