Her eyes shone in the candlelight but were lit by the fire within.
"What can I possibly give you that you don't already have?"

"I could offer you my body, lay it down upon silken sheets,
Open myself to you and beg with pleading eyes for you
To take what lies before you but I already have,
My body is yours."

"I could offer you my soul, tangled upon the webs of desire,
Torn with knowledge of the past and glimpses of the future,
To be possessed by you upon this Earth forever but I already have,
My soul is yours."

"I could offer you my friendship, the companionship of one,
Someone to talk to, to laugh with, to learn, always something new
To be with as easily and comfortably as an old pair of shoes but I already have,
My friendship is yours."

"I could offer you my passion that burns deep inside
Aching to come free, to be released, to breathe and catch on fire again
To be taken and used and explored and desired but I already have,
My passion is yours."

"I could offer you my mind and the assorted knowledge there
The best, the brightest, the most invaluable of all my possessions
Something you can never completely use up but I already have,
My mind is yours."

"I could offer you my trust and the belief in you that you will always do
What is best for us, knowing you are strong and brave and true
To be trusted as knowing the way to go but I already have,
My trust is yours."

"I could offer you my honesty and the truth and faith that I will never lie
Perhaps mislead in my own desire and failure to see the truth
But the knowledge that I will always try to be true for you but I already have,
My honesty is yours."

"I could offer you my heart, that which is so weak and yet so strong,
That holds my life together and dashes it apart, that poor overused muscle
Controlling everything I am and will be but I already have,
My heart is yours."

"I could offer you my love, that which is most precious, that which is most sought,
The overpowering emotion that conquers all, right or wrong, bad or good,
It survives beyond everything, even beyond the grave, to give, to take, to live but I already have,
My love is yours."

"So what can I possibly give you that you don't already have? Tell me, please."
