So we cry
Only to hear the lonely echo
Calling back to us...
The amount of time which passes,
Is of little importance in the end...

He stands on his own
Free from care
Away from his duty
A father only by name
A title he never earned

She sits in her corner
Confused and in pain
In her soul lies an emptiness
Never filled... never loved
Devoid of purpose and understanding

In the end...
All I saw was blood
Raining down on her head
And dripping slowly on the floor
Lying forgotten and unnoticed

It is the ancient blood
The one we all know
It is the color of our hearts
The color of our happiness
And our pain

Yet hope remained
In her innocent heart
Until the sadness she once bore
Turned to an anger
Which stole her innocence

But... he never cared
A child cried for him to return
But any parental love
Was non-existent in his soul
And so... she remains alone

I realize only now
That the pain which threatened my sanity
Has only made me stronger
So now I bear the scars painted red
The only legacy of a forgotten child.

Powerful 3 years on

One or two lines indicate an extra 'blood' verse needed for general reader. Sadly the last verse becomes more poigneint if u loose the possessive.

~~

A sad piece on the effects of abandonment as the father leaves the mother and child and disavows his title.
