FRAGMENTS OF A SOUL
She sat motionless, in the quiet, cold, dark room,
Her arms wrapped around her nakedness,
She looked at her hopes, her dreams, her life,
Shattered like broken shards of a mirror on the floor surrounding her.
In fear, in despair, in desperation, her motions frenzied,
She tried to gather the pieces to put them back together again,
The shards pierced her hands making them bleed, causing her pain,
Like the pain in her mind, her heart, her soul.
She sobbed in silence, railed at the unfairness of it all,
Her tear streaked face in her bloodied and bleeding hands,
Afraid, that just like the shards,
Her mind would splinter from the agony.
Slowly the sobbing ended, the pain subsided,
Carefully she began to arrange the many pieces,
First one then another, slowly at first, then more quickly,
The pieces began to fit together.
The despair turned to hope,
The pain to joy,
The wounds healed,
The pieces all in place.
She arose from the floor,
Like the phoenix from the fire & ash,
Scarred, yet stronger,
She gazed in wonder at the order from the chaos.
A sigh from her lips, so soft it was like a caress,
Her tormented mind at ease,
Her tortured soul at rest,
Her heart healed.
