Like a caged bird you cry,
longing for the freedom of the sky
wishing for a gentle wind
and not the fear that keeps you in.
If only you could spread your wings
and forget all those other things
the sting of that wicked bee
those awful hounds barking up your tree
Ages past and yet they linger
In your mind they still point their finger
Face averted, fearing glances
never taking any chances
missing all the worth in life
hiding from all your past strife
your misery will stay unending
as long as you remain unbending
hiding inside the hole you carved
that now does less good than harm.
The song remains inside your heart
the one that shall help you depart
but what secret remains unseen
to make that song more real than dream
mayhaps you only need a friend
to help your wings get on the mend
and then the winds will sigh your song
never paralyzed again by wrongs
and then the sun will see you soar
beside your love forever more
