Angry words
Hard fists
Payment for my sins
Punishment for imagined transgressions
Weakness
what's done can't be undone

Thick fingers
Soft throat
Cold hard wall against my back
Don't fight
Stay calm
Don't provoke, don't resist

Unbroken stare
Uncaring
Numb
No reaction, no fun
He leaves, threatening worse to come

I fall
Hide
Curled small
Take the phone
Call the forbidden
That's how you find me
Beaten but unbroken
My knight in shining armour

You take my hand
Give me your strength
Silence him with a look
Walk
Downstairs

At the door
I leave his ring
On the table
I leave with nothing
But
My freedom
