Are you my angel of mercy
or are you the angel of death?
to me they are one and the same
I give freely my final breath

As you slowly study my face
I see confusion in your eyes
am I not what you expected?
I can't say I sympathize

I did not choose the path
that has lead me to your feet
I will look at you with defiance
I will not accept defeat

You will not catch me begging
nor will you see me cower
I will hold on to my dignity
through my final hour

You will never understand
what life’s taken from me
so get this over with quickly
for soon I will be free

Note: I was in a dark mood when I wrote this.
I’m better now :-),But I still like the poem

I like the thought

But it's expressed in a jumbled way. You're welcoming of death, you're defying death, you're willing giving your last breath but you won't accept the defeat of death. It doesn't sound like an inner struggle, just a thought errantly expressed.

Holding off voting, hoping you rework it.
