There are times
When the words that fill my head
As well as my heart
Seem too simple to explain the
Frenzied fixation
Starry-eyed stare
Bruised bacchian revelry
Confused contemplation
That your simple smile
Your simple voice
Your simple soul
Your jaded heart
Does to me.

Time, distance, communication
I think we hold back for reasons
Filling feeble filters
That I suspect we both see
Straight through.

Heart start
Stop and go
I am consistently confined
To keeping on my toes
When you are near.

You remind me of a Peter Murphy song.
I wonder where your heart truly lies
And if it has any room for me there.
Wanting to make that chemistry
Burn like it did in class when we were kids.

Or are my own feelings falling to deaf ears?
Or maybe those simple words are too much.

Or just not enough.
