You don't think I see the lie, but I do
The gentle reassurances and promises
That everything will be okay
Mean less than nothing
When you don't believe them either
But everything true sounds trite
And the lies are slick and glossy
Smiling out at you from the signs
Bright lights and bright windows
Into a world where nothing is
You say you love me
Because it's the thing to say
Just like your ask "How are you?"
And then turn away before I answer
Even mirrors lie, telling us everthing
That is wrong and bad
Less depth than illusion
And not all or even most of the truth
