When the news of your passing arrived to my ear
I was unable to comprehend the words I did hear
It was impossible! I cried NO!
This is a mistake and couldn't be so!
All of our plans carefully laid out
He can't be gone, I wanted to shout!
There are things we've planned to do
Someone please tell me this isn't true!
If wishes were granted I've one wish to ask
Again in your presence, I could slowly bask
Taking my time and savouring each day
Feeling the warmth, your love sent my way
Unconditional to the final end
Loving me more than an ordinary friend
My soul brother, I feel your spirit 'round me
Protecting and comforting, helping my heart to see
Life is changing, pushing us in our own individual directions
Learning and growing,in spite of our objections
We cling to the past with a tenacious hold
Never realizing our lives can suddenly fold
Now is the time to pursue those dreams long desired
We've no idea how long our bodies are wired
Today is the day to embrace and celebrate
Today is the day, I said good bye to my terra firma mate
