Dedicated to Phillip Terry

Good-Bye

The boy looks into the mirror,
His pale blue eyes are the only things that stare back.
The room only has one light,
The rest is draped in black.
Scattered about are his few precious belongings,
They have no hold on him now.
The world is spinning out of control,
No more dealing with problems he's forgotten how.

Slowly the monsters close in,
Trapping him in this place.
He's been running for a long time,
But no matter how fast they are still close behind.
Sitting here now as the darkness moves in,
Faster and faster, there is no escape.
The gun in his hands is shaking,
There is no denying its distinct shape.

The trigger is pulled,
Our friend is dead before he hears the report.
His body slumps against the floor,
His life is gone, it was far too short.
Little did he think about the things he left behind,
A girl who cared more than he knew,
His parents, a loving father and mother,
The people who bought his first shoes.

But of all those around him,
No one will miss him more than his friends.
Those few that grew up with him,
Those who were with him till the end.
The kids who shared his corner all in black,
It's on them the heaviest burden lies.
These are the people, who will never forget,
The life he had and decided to forfeit.

All over the school today they mourn,
Those who knew him and those who didn't.
Even those who hated him few as they are,
And those he touched and believed he was heaven sent.
And as the day moves slowly on,
The others will struggle to as well,
We'll try to be happy, to smile for him,
We'll try to be happy though we cry in our shell.

It is to you our dear friend that we say good bye,
Who can say...were you destined for great things?
Now the world will never know,
Just as tomorrow's a secret, to bring true or shatter dreams.
Tomorrow we hope the pain will be better,
We look towards release with somber gratitude.
But for now we show our love and respect,
And say good bye to the best of dudes.

Don't do this, this is the second one. BTW a new writer 5. This is bad area to work in. If this is for a friend, I'm sorry, but you celebrate death, not life. If you don't like the comment delete it. But the material is old.

no comments? not even one constructive one?

This contains a huge amount of info that could be tightened up. It is not terrible nor is it a five. If you plan on writing more poetry, you need to work on specifics. There are spots that are vague and scattered about. I have tha feeling you can do better.
