I awake to the chill of an empty bed
The birds chattering to themselves outside my window
The sheets so smooth where you once laid
The grass dripping tears in the morning

I choke down dry pieces of bread with purple water
An empty vase sits filled with vacant dreams
A mirror watches me shave off another day of pain
A sun rises to herald in more of life's mockery

I put on my multi-colored vest of blame
A set of keys that unlock nothing, jingle in my jeans
The car warming up outside to move my guilt around
A heart dying inside, withering without you
