GREEN WEE MEN

Funny to be again
in this odd cafeteria,
remembering my primitive hysteria,
I think it happened when
my future was decided,
all of a sudden everything subsided.

It changed my hard face,
it stopped my respiration,
so hot became those tears of desperation,
seeking a hiding place,
I passed into posterity,
"oblivion's benign face" begging charity.

refrain 1
In the wood where I stood there was nothing to do but become
one of those green wee men to the truth of the tale adding charm.

I thought, "Let's write some porn,
the true events describing,
to all past versions of my muse subscribing,
win nothing but her scorn,
or even her indifference,
her skilful loving still has made the difference".

These faces look new,
so does the cafeteria,
my heart has grown colder than Siberia,
but what I wrote is true,
depicting hard reality,
which still offends her middle class morality.

refrain 2
Come along, green wee men, let us run in the woods, true and free,
let's corrupt every maid in her fake sleeping under a tree.

I have been on the run,
dealing with "current history",
neglecting love's beginning and its mystery,
invisible green man,
praying for equivalence,
split in two halves by my own ambivalence.

It's only porn that kept,
within me her true memory,
polishing day by day like hard emery,
or else she would have slept
in similar posterity,
despite my old guitar and my dexterity.

(alternating refrains 3 & 4 and fading out)

refrain 3
In the wood where I stood there was nothing to do but become
a time bandit, ghost buster, in blue open seas a beach bum...

refrain 4
In the wood where I stand there is nothing to do but be gone,
fare the well, green wee men, with your charm I will travel alone...

etc... etc...
