Click hereI've been thinking lately about
just what my place is here.
I know that we all have reason,
a cause, a justification,
that allows us to live,
free of guilt and sorrow.
Have you ever found that you
just sit and think about
why and how we all got here?
Is there a higher reason,
a power that doesn't need justification
to place an eternal soul, here, to live?
Free of guilt and sorrow,
a dream that haunts you,
and keeps your ideas flying about.
A midnight thought that ties you here
with a wish that you could know the reason,
the brilliant justification,
for why we are allowed to live,
free of guilt and sorrow.

I am going through the poems for the challenge when the title caught me. I often think this. Is it just me? When I read this I felt like I do feel this way right now. Why do we never feel this when things appear to be going right? When we are at home with our spirit, when we feel comfortable in our skin, do these questions ever appear? In retrospect, I cannot recall a time when it has. Only when we feel like our shoes are on the wrong feet or we've emotionally felt like we've missed the train do we ask these questions.
I read this and thought to myself, "I am not alone." Thank you for asking aloud. Thank you for asking in such a profoundly simplistic way that people cannot walk away without reflecting.
I'm blathering.
Just wanted to let you know that this poem came from you, but has a voice of millions.
because if it is, poetry as we know it would cease to exist! Keep looking, Champagne, and keep writing what you find.
a really good piece of soul-searching. I love the way it flows; the line breaks are perfect. I agree with Tath--I like seeing this kind of writing in your voice. :)
your philisophical turn lately......
you raise some interesting questions.
Self discovery always produces some great poetry.
Keep digging and keep us informed
Thank you
