I envy them
their smooth skin
clear eyes
back-packing to places
I only dream of.
"See you in Beijing
in December
i" they call,
ski-ing in Canada
or snorkelling in Spain,
making plans to meet
in a Bangladeshi doss house
all on a shoe string.
I want to smell his neck
or stroke her hair.
It is too late
for freedom and the confidence
of youth I never had
but he holds her hand
in his with all their memories
like an album of old age
to come.

Cool read

I hate Hal and Sara. I envy them for the energy

and youth. I do these things because you write

them well.
