A woman scorned by day and night
stands in silhouette against lamp light
a lover leans, watching without fear
eyes black, foreboding, will she dare?

Hands calm, breath deep
that blood, all to keep
steps forward, stilettos click
on route for dining, then a flick
in shadow, no glare, no dare!
Call him to you my love, beware!

Night life delights, she calls, he turns
his eyes on hers, what will she earn?
White hand on black jacket, eyes open wide,
her teeth so perfect, has he yet died?

Strain to watch, to see him go
to her arms open, poor cupid’s bow.
Neither feared the other, a neck was bared
she leaned close, drank all she dared.
He slumped to the sidewalk, weak, ill
She walked away after her fill.

It lasted four days, five nights and more
then searching again, she found the poor.
None would mind, death was their huntsman
One by one she picked them, leaving them no sanction.

Halloween arrived, a hunt began in part
She got no further for a stake entered her heart.
