I am afraid of being
simple like you, father.
Don’t really like the tv
or the sparkling sports car.
I’m kind of nervous about
you being half of my whole.
They say we become our
parents after a while.
They say I will learn to
be your friend, even love you.
Miss you when you’re gone.
But that won’t happen.
And you must remember,
there in that dirt,
I am only half of your whole.
