out in the street the wind picked up
and thunder growled in long rumbles.
she felt the heavy clouds descend
and enfold her in wet darkness.
she had been pleased to bleed for him.
her beauty had meant something then.

as cold drops pummeled her, she craved
the crack of his cane on her skin;
the fire of it coursing through her;
the delight he took in her tears;
the freedom servitude gave her -
her beauty had meant something then.

as the storm grew inflamed and fierce
she dared the lightning to strike and
strew her as trash in the gutter -
a broken, slimed, badly used girl
squirming at the feet of rude men.
her beauty would mean something then.

I love this

it's so powerful, and the refrain so chilling.
