Here I lost my heart one day
While coming to these shores to play
I took it out for just a while
And left it here upon this isle

I walked along this rocky wall
I thought I heard the siren’s call
I wandered off and hoped to find
A creature of the singing kind

But though I looked both near and far
I could not find the shining star
Who through her words and melody
Sung her song to only me

When I finally wandered back
The sky had gone from blue to black
Although I scoured the endless beach
My heart, I fear, was out of reach

So I plead of you to take good care
If ever you are walking here
Take care to note just where you’ve been
And keep your heart within your skin

If ever you are tempted to
Leave it when the sky is blue
Take care that you are getting back
Before the stars shine in the black
