"Come lie with me," he whispered low,
"There is no place you need to go."
"I don't think so," was her reply
For she saw no love there in his eye.
"You want me only for the night
And I tell you, sir, that isn't right."
His smile dimmed at her haunting words
"Why … that, my dear, is for the birds!
More than once would suit me fine!"
But she was not falling for his line.
Though his kiss was sweet and warm
She knew he only meant her harm.
She pushed at him and turned her head
He pulled her forcefully to his bed.
"Stop! Please, NO!" she began to wail
But she soon found it was to no avail.
So she gave up her valiant fight
And he had his way with her that night.
Even though she knew there was no escape,
And she'd said "no", and it was rape,
From that day on, she wouldn't tell
Because she had known him so long and well
That she had fought her very best
Everyone just thought that she'd said yes
And changed her mind when she saw the sun
To cover up what they both had done.
So silent was she through the passing of years
But in the darkness she often shed some tears
For the innocence lost, for her soul's biggest blow
The day her boyfriend didn't hear the word "no".
