I had a man who said he loved me.
He cheated. Not in a little way.
No, not in a little way.

I had a man who said I was the only one he needed.
He lied. Not in a little way.
No, not in a little way.

I had a man who said he would always stay.
But he strayed. Not in a little way.
No, not in a little way.

I should have been angry at what he did.
But he hurt me. Not in a little way.
No, not in a little way.

For my daughter’s sake, for my sake,
Was I angry? Not even in a little way.
No, not even in a little way.

It took too long for my fury to hit,
Was I enraged? Not even in a little way.
No, not even in a little way.

A year later my life now is being mended.
Will I trust again? Not even in a little way.
No, not even in a little way.
