He Remembers

Her hair a cascade of amber,
the tendrils fall and curl around each nipple,
freckles play across
her perfect nose that crinkles
as she laughs up at him.
With pride and love so intense
it makes him shiver inside, his heart pounds
a matching beat. She his love
his bride and whore moves in unison
crying out with virginity lost,
captured beneath his body,
but moments before.

Greying locks no longer have that golden sheen
but holding her beauty, he smooths
her wrinkled skin loves her still
although her eyes
no longer see him for who he is,
the man who cares for her
with love,
her passion for life spent.
He remembers.
