I remember him

Black hair, long, past his shoulders
Going to gray, salt and pepper
More pepper than salt
A beard and mustache to match
Twin brows like mustaches
Over crystal blue orbs
He called eyes

Head cast down
His palms pressed flat against his ears
Long fingers, thick and rough, splayed
His eyes closed tightly
To keep out the nightmares
As he proclaimed
"I don't want to hear it."

And so
I didn't tell him
