Click hereI Drink Each Night, To Forget Tha Past
In This Old Dark Smokey Bar
Only To Find At Tha Bottom Of Each Glass
Yuh Beautiful Face And My Broken Heart
Tha Bartender Knows Me, Oh He Knows Me Well
I've Come Here Each Night For Years
For A Taste Of Heaven, A Reprieve From Hell
He's Seen All Tha Tears
Old Men Come To This Bar Each Night
Each With A Sad Story To Share
Most Stay Til Tha Sun Kisses Tha Sky
Then Wander Out In Drunken Dispair
All Have Loved And All Have Lost
Some More Than Others, It's True
Ratted Out By Tha Old Juke Box
As It Sings A Song For Yuh
Yuh Are So Many Yet One And Tha Same
That Girl That We Once Knew
Even Tho Yuh Face Has Changed
In Tha Old Photographs We Have Of Yuh
To Some Yuh Blonde With Blue Eyes
With A Voice That Can Sing Down Tha Moon
To Others Yuh A Southern Belle With Brown Eyes
With A Smile To Brighten Tha Room
In Every Story Yuh Just Tha Same
And It Always Makes Us Cry
To Know We All Loved A Woman Who Claimed
She'd Never Say Goodbye
But Say It Yuh Did, Time And Again
For Reasons We Long Forgot
So Now We Sit Here, Both Strangers And Friends
Half Drunk, Half Dead, And All Rot
Strangers Come In Now And Again
Yougsters With Curious Minds
But Then Theyre Gone And Won't Be Back Again
Unless It's Yuh They Find
And If They Do Find Yuh
And Gamble Their Hearts Away
They Finally Know Tha Truth
Love Never Plans To Stay
And They'll Drink Each Night, To Forget Tha Past
In This Old Dark Smokey Bar
Only To Find At Tha Bottom Of Each Glass
Yuh Beautiful Face And Their Broken Hearts
Thank Yuh Very Much For Yuh Wonderful Comments. I'm Glad Yuh Enjoyed This Poem. I'm Trying To Write Through Tha Eyes Of Strangers. I Saw An Old Drunk Man In A Bar Tha Other Night And This Poem Dropped Into My Head. Idk Why But It Has An Old Folk Or Country Song Feel To It. Maybe Because I Was Listening To Billy Joel's Piano Man At The Time...Lol
